The SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) was designed to ensure a strong connection between SHRM and its affiliated chapters from a business perspective. SHAPE encourages chapters to focus on activities and initiatives which are more strategic in nature while promoting the HR profession at the local level. IE SHRM has been recognized with the EXCEL Silver Award due to its outstanding professional outreach programs, including a training program for study towards the SPHR and PHR designations, outstanding monthly speaking engagements during chapter meetings, and for involvement with student chapters at several state and private higher education institutions. “This recognition is a distinct indication of the chapter’s successful partnership with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession” noted J. Robert Carr, Senior Vice President, Membership, Marketing & External Affairs for SHRM.
